Scrapbook Weekend

Well, Frank has gone back to work and I decided to scrapbook. Here are a few of my pages: first ones are Amy in a photo taken today and Amanda just before graduation in May 2006; next two are Anna & Emma, my friend, Angela's daughters; and last is the little boy from Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

Happy Birthday, Joanna

Happy 23rd to the darling little girl with the parasol - Peek-a-b00 - Daddy's still watching you and he is very proud of you! Hope it's a good one! (This picture was scanned from the one in Frank's wallet ... it's pretty worn out, but he says it's still his favorite.)

I saw the Eclipse ... and Saturn's Rings, too!

It was so cool, the moon looked so 3D when the eclipse was total - like a giant ball in the sky instead of the normal flatness I see! Frank got out the telescope so I could see Saturn, too. Gosh that is such a pretty planet. I love it when you can see the rings so clearly. What a great way to end a great day!

Good News!

Frank talked with the folks at FLS (where he worked until January 16) and they have a new warehouse opening up in Fletcher and have hired Frank back to work for them at the new facility. He goes tomorrow morning for his drug test and then onto orientation. Thank you for all the prayers and well wishes ... not only for his job search but for my sanity (ha ha!)

Almost 2 Hours Ago...

Frank went into the kitchen to make my breakfast. This is the result. Breakfast quesadillas with sliced strawberries, mango, and sour cream. No wonder I need Weight Watchers!

Happy Valentine's Day

Chillean Sea Bass, Yummy Crab Stuffing, Fresh Green Asparagus topped with Lemony Hollandaise ... what more could a girl ask for? Apple Pie, maybe? I'm not sure, but I'm guessing that even if you ate out tonight at a 5 Star restaurant, your meal was not as delicious or made with as much love as mine was! It's so nice to have my own personal chef!

Being that I am NOT the chef and that I worked so hard today, I made a stop at Inlges and got to wait in their "Lover's Lane," along with a bunch of other GUYS. It was so cool, they had an arch of paper flowers and red and white balloons along with a sign that said, "Lover's Lane ~ for Valentine's Purchases Only." My self-decorated giant chocolate chip cookie, strawberries, and chocolate dipping sauce qualified!

When I got home and gave Frank his big cookie, he fussed at me because he said I said, "We're not getting each other anything." Then my sniffer caught the scent of apple pie coming from the oven, and then we both laughed! He broke the rule, too. Ahh ... isn't it romantic? I babysit to earn enough to buy his cookie and he chopped wood to earn enough to buy me a pie. Reminds me of the "Gift of the Magi" ` well sort of, neither of us lost any hair in the deal. LOL.

Okay, so tell me what you did on this day of love for the one you love or what the one who loves you did for you.

Kids say the cutest things ... even the older ones

On Monday morning I took Matthew to school and I asked him when he was going to take driver's ed (you know, since he turned 16 three weeks ago). Do you know what he said? It's pretty funny!

He said, "Can you do that online?"

Pretty sure he was serious! I guess I should be happy he's not chomping at the bit to add to our growing parking lot of vehicles and ever increasing insurance costs.

Matter Scored to 3 Point Shots In Win Over East

Matthew and the Falcons beat Uncle John's East Eagles last night by 2 points and Matter scored 8 points to help! The Headlines in light blue are by me ... as I am sure you will be able to notice right away since they usually talk about Matthew!

Did You See This?

It's Matthew! On the front page of the paper last Wednesday. I didn't see it until the end of the day. He has a guy's arm in his face, but it is definitely him. I have extra copies if anyone needs them autographed ... haha! (If you click on the image it will open up bigger so you can see him better.)

Two Layouts I did on Sunday

I know I have used this pic before, but I wanted to use it on a paper layout, too. The last one I did had Helen in it and was a digital layout. Today, I organized and then managed to "dis" organize all my paper supplies while scrapping these two layouts.

The Biggest Upset Ever?

That's what they said anyway. There were a few of us at work who actually really DID pick Eli Manning and the Giants to beat the Patriots. Sure, it was wishful hoping, but hey, they did! And what an amazing win. I have no fingernails left! Go Giants. I cannot wait to see Peyton hand off that trophy to his little brother (well, not literally, but hey they did get it back to back!) Way to go, Mannings!

Conrad Family Photo shoot

I did this paper layout today using photos I took of Frank, Justin and Tiffany back in December. Tiffany asked me to take them so she could give them to Art as a framed gift for his new "man cave." Some of them came out pretty good and there were way too many for a one page layout. Here I picked some of my favorites and even made a mini book on the second page to hold a couple more and a close-up of each of them. Enjoy!

Wowzers

My last challenge to do for January scrapping was a layout using one element in three different formats. I chose the circle and I used it on paper, as stitching, and for the journaling block. I called it Wowzers because it is so hard for me to believe the difference in these pictures. Especially Matthew. He looks so young in the first picture and so grown up in the second one. In case you can't read the journaling - the first pic was taken in 2001 when Amanda turned 13 and the second one was taken in 2006 at Thanksgiving at Mama & Daddy's. WOWZERS!

Pig Out Weekend

The last time Frank and I went shopping at Sam's, we got a really good deal on pork - not just pork chops, but pork butt and ham, too. And this is the story of how we ended up having all of it in one weekend:

One of the ladies was cooking pork chops with Classico Tomato Sauce and provolone cheese. It reminded me that Amanda had requested Lasagna for the next time she was here so we thought this might close but give her a taste of something new but still use some of the flavors of lasagna.

Now, I have been craving barbecue for about a month and when we got such a good deal on the pork butt, Frank promised to smoke it and make me some barbecue.

Last week Nick called and said to Frank, "Why don't you invite us over for dinner sometime?" Frank told him pick the food and he would be happy to. So all the kids got together and decided they liked his pintos with ham the best and it was set to have that on Sunday night.

So, after we were all sitting around tonight feeling stuffed and fat - Frank called us all little pigs and pointed out that every meal we had this weekend was courtesy of three little pigs!

Needless to say, we sure did eat "high on the hog" this weekend!

Woo Hoo Falcons beat #1 Team in the State

Way to go, Falcons and a Happy Birthday present for Matthew! The Falcons beat the previously undefeated, and ranked #1 in the state, Smoky Mountain Mustangs, in a very close game tonight. It stayed close the whole game and came down to two free throws that put them ahead by three - it was so awesome! Because they are such a good team, we really didn't expect Matthew to get in the game much, but he did - long enough (almost 2 minutes!) to get called for 2 fouls! He said he was no where near the guy on one of the calls, but of course what baller doesn't say that? :) Anyway, Falcons can hold their heads up high tonight! The win makes them 2-1 in the conference and they face North Henderson at North on Friday night. Congrats Falcons and Congrats & Happy B-day, Matter!

PS I took pictures with b.w film and Billy took them to be developed, hopefully I got at least one shot of him playing!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MATTER!

I can believe it's been 16 years since you were born! WOW - where does the time go. I put up this picture of pooh because before there was always a ball in your hand there was a pooh. Oh how you loved pooh! It makes me smile to think about the little boy you were carrying around your blankie and your pooh. I am having to post from my work computer so I don't have access to any pictures of you, but when I get home, I will be sure to put up a few of my favorites. Love you so much! Have a happy, happy day!

Only one day ...

... until my baby turns 16! Sometimes when I think how cute Matthew was when he was little, I totally agree with Joanna when she says, "Sometimes, I wish they would just stay this little." But then I think about all the joy he has brought us as he as grown up. I mean, afterall, if it weren't for Matthew would any one of us know anything about sports? LOL!
