Apple Festival 2008

Frank and I got up and headed over to the Apple Festival early this morning in an effort to avoid the crowds. Highlights (f0r us) included:
  • 75 Cent Parking in the metered lot behind the old Penney's (everyone else was charging $3-$5)
  • Free Ice Water from Burger King
  • Great Photo Opportunities!
  • Home by noon
Our only regret? Not going back for the homemade apple bread pudding!

The 10 Year Comparison

Return of the Conberts (plus a few Seagles)

Today we took the 10 year reunion photo. Frank insisted that all the kids be on the tree and in outfits as close as possible to those worn in the first group photo taken of them waayyyy back in 1998. The top picture is the current photo and I will try to scan and upload the 1998 version sometime on Monday. The photo shoot went pretty well despite the heat, the squinting, and the shadowy faces. Hope you enjoy (let me know if you want copies, I plan to order prints on Monday.)

Cool Internet Game

Stacie, Del's niece, lives in Puerto Rico with her Coast Guard husband and since she is far away from the rest of her family here in NC she started a blog. On it, she put up this neat little game. In the game, you answer questions and then go to Google Images and put in your answer and pick from one of the photos in the search and then post them on your blog. Takes some time, but sometimes the results are cute. Here are my entries:

Butterflies at WCU

Today I had to go to Sylva to meet with the hospital about monster.com, while there I decided to check out WCU and leave a gift bag with their human resources manager, too. I was taken with the butterfly garden next to the visitor's center that I had to take some time and get out the camera. These butterflies were FAST! They did not want to sit still but I was able to capture a few of them.

I wonder who will have more of these in their tummy come January, me or Amanda?

Michael Phelps wins 8th Gold! WOW!

Azalea's Neighbor

This pretty yellow wildflower has found its home next to my azalea. It is a pretty amazing flower. There are three or four of them in the garden and after a long hot day they look completely dead. But every morning and after a little bit of rain they come back to life so beautifully. I sense that it's some kind of daisy, but if you know exactly what kind, please let me know.

IT RAINED!

And what did I do to celebrate? I took pictures of my azalea ... my pretty azalea that blooms twice a year is now in its second showing. Isn't she lovely?

New Sea Mist Ad?

Wouldn’t this be a great magazine ad for the hotel we stayed at while on vacation?

Oh, Deer ...

Matthew saw this deer on our way home tonight. Matter has pretty good eyes, too. He noticed the gash on the side of the deer. Seems sad to think about her running around out there hurt.
